From the Publisher
The volume divides Etrog's work into its major categories: Painted Wood Construction of the 1950's, Links, Screws, Blots, Hinges, Steel Constructions, Rivets and Composites. As well as illustrating the individual aspects of Etrog's peuvre, the monograph contains a list of exhibitions and a full biography. It accompanies an exhibition at Buschlen Mowatt Galleries in Vancouver, Canada, and in Palm Desert, California. In a career spanning 50 years and highlighted by collaborations with artists and writers such as Eugene Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, John Cage, and Marshall McLuhan, Etrog has developed a complex visual vocabulary explorin the tensions of our time. His dynamic sculptures synthesize solid metal and organic energy and resonate with visceral force. Having worked for many years ion New York, France, and Italy, as well as in his adoptive Canada, Etrog was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 1994, and was awarded the Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by France in 1996.
