Book Description
Mississippi is a treasure trove of historically and architecturally significant structures, and "The Majesty of Mississippi" celebrates examples from across the state. Stunning color photographs capture highlights from the beautifully preserved town of Natchez, whose Southern charm attracts thousands of tourists annually, to the plantation mansions rising from the Delta's rich alluvial soil, to the coastal landmarks bearing diverse influences from that area's Spanish, French, and British rule. Mississippi's numerous historic homes offer an unforgettable glimpse of the lost South. Many of these treasures, including Stanton Hall in Natchez, considered one of the finest house museums in the country, to Jefferson Davis's last home at Beauvoir in Biloxi, are open to the public.
