About the Author
Barbara Martin is the Curator of the Dorich House, which houses the major collection of the sculpture of Dora Gordine and the Hare's collection of art from the Russian Empire. She is responsible for the Dorich House archives, and the ongoing restoration and display of the artworks. He prior publications include the Dorich House Guidebook (1998), various articles relating to Dora Gordine; and Dorich House, including Apollo (Nov. 1996) and the Dictionary of Women Artists (Fitzroy Dearborn, 1997). Current research interests include cultural and gendered approaches to architecure and Russian and Eastern european women artists of the 20th century.
Penny Sparke is Dean of the Faculty of Design and Kingston University. Recent publications include a Century of Design and As Long It's Pink: The Sexual Politics of Taste (Pandora, 1995). She has published a number of essays in recent publications focussing on the relationships of women and material culture. Her current research interests include gender and American interiors in the early 20th century.
