About the Author
McCay's unique manipulations of the comic art form, with bird's-eye views and unusual perspectives, combined with his unorthodox subject matter, were responsible for the extreme popularity of his work. He was also one of the pioneers of animation, creating "Gertie the Dinosaur", which was the first widely popular animated cartoon in history.
