About the Author
Daniel Torres es el dibujante mas destacado de su generacion. Su obra, que incluye tanto novelas graficas como libros infantiles, se ha publicado en todo el mundo y se ha traducido a muchos idiomas. Torres inicio su carrera como dibujante en 1980, despues de graduarse en Bellas Artes en Valencia. Su primer comic, Claudio Cueco, vio la luz en la revista independiente El Vibora. En 1982 salio una nueva serie, Roco Vargas, una space-opera cuyo protagonista era un aventurero galactico que escribe novelas de ciencia ficcion. Norma Editorial publico esta popular serie, y la traduccion al ingles se publico en los Estados Unidos en 1984. Norma Editorial continuo publicando la obra del dibujante, como las novelas graficas Opium y Saxxon. Ademas de la serie de comics, Torres se ha dedicado al dibujo comercial, como el rediseno del logo corporativo de Norma, un mural encargado por el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona para mostrar la Barcelona del futuro, e ilustraciones para grandes editoriales de los Estados Unidos como Penguin, Dell, Playboy, Premier Magazine y New York Weekly.
Daniel Torres is the most prominent Spanish comic artist of his generation. His work, which includes graphic novels and childrens books, has been published all over the world and translated into a number of different languages. Daniel Torres began his career as a comics artist in 1980, after graduating from the Valencia School of Fine Arts. His first comic Claudio Cueco, was published by the underground magazine El Vibora. In 1982, he launched a new series, Rocco Vargas, a graphically drawn space-opera featuring an inter-galactic adventurer/sci-fi writer as its title character. This popular series was published by Norma Editorial, with an English translation released in the United States in 1984. Norma Editorial went on to publish all of the artists subsequent work, most notably the graphic novels Opium, Rocco Vargas and Saxon. In addition to his comic series, Torres has also undertaken a variety of commercial art projects. This includes re-designing Normas corporate logo, and creating a mural commissioned by the Barcelona City Council to illustrate the Barcelona of the Future, as well as illustration work for American publishers like Penguin, Bantam, Dell, Playboy, Premier Magazine, and New York Weekly.
