About the Author
Both Jordan L. Linfield and Joseph Kay learned about life and language in the neighborhoods and schools of New York City, in the United States Army, and in graduate schools at leading universities.
Mr. Linfield and Mr. Kay have held senior editorial positions at major publishing houses. Mr. Linfield has taught for more than fifteen years in the City University system and Mr. Kay was for many years the principal of a leading alternative New York City high school.
