This volume takes a hard, analytical look at the financial performance of those "excellent" firms as listed in Peters and Waterman's In Seach of Excellence. Taking a list of these "best-run" companies and a control sample from the Fortune 500, the author applies sophisticated statistical and econometric tools to analyze their performance, comparing the "excellent" firms with the control group. Ghosh's study of the financial performance of these well-known firms during the period 1960-1984 brings out significant findings that are invaluable to the investing public as well as to finance and management analysts.
